A 56-year-old man was killed last week when he was struck by a garbage truck at a Secaucus sanitation company, police said.

Julio DelaRosa, a Union City resident and employee of Allegro Sanitation, was killed Thursday at the company's headquarters on Secaucus Road, Secaucus police Capt. Dennis Miller said.

DelaRosa had his back to the Mack Truck when it backed into him and ran him over in the sanitation yard on company property around 1:20 p.m., Secaucus police Lt. Martin Moreda said.

The truck was driven by an Allegro employee, although no charges or summonses were issued, authorities said, adding that neither the speed of the vehicle or "carelessness" were factors in the incident.
