Four people from New York tried using counterfeit money at a department store in Secaucus and were caught by town police trying to flee on Route 3, authorities said.

Mia Pollidore, 19, of Brooklyn, and Octavier Rodriguez, 21, of Far Rockaway, were charged with counterfeit currency conspiracy and forgery, Secaucus police Capt. Dennis Miller said.

Alexandria Alonso, 24, of Uniondale, was charged with possession of marijuana, counterfeit currency conspiracy and an outstanding warrant in the amount of $500 from Secaucus. Maxie Ryles, 27, of Brooklyn, was charged with counterfeit currency conspiracy and two outstanding warrants in the amount of $206 from Newark and South Hackensack.
