A Jersey City man who was arrested on shoplifting charges found himself in deeper trouble before he could get out of jail when police charged him with a stolen car, Capt. Secaucus police Capt. Dennis Miller said.

Efraim Diaz, 27, was charged with shoplifting and conspiracy to commit shoplifting in relation to incidents at Kohl's and Hudson Wines, just off Route 3, after 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 21, Miller said. 

After his arrest, police found that Diaz had an outstanding warrant out of Mount Olive, two warrants out of Jersey City and an outstanding warrant out of Pennsylvania. Diaz was also charged as a fugitive from justice and taken to Hudson County jail.
