The Secaucus Police Department is dedicated to become a union with our community of citizens by demonstrating respect, courtesy and compassion. An ever-present willingness to promote a trusting atmosphere between our police officers and individual citizens, community groups and business associations. These alliances are created through better communication, interacting, listening and responding to our citizens. We strive to build an environment built upon dignity and mutual respect for every individual in our community while remaining accessible to all whom choose to live, work or visit in the Town of Secaucus. At all times we will provide a high level of service consistent with public expectations. We will develop an enhanced quality-of-life through community partnerships involving both the juveniles and adults of this municipality. We choose to go the extra mile to provide special services with a personal touch.
On April 20, 2021 the Secaucus Police Department will begin to phase in Body Worn Cameras. Prior to the end of May 2021, all Uniformed Patrol Officers will be equipped with Body Worn Cameras.

The Secaucus Police Department will participate in the nationwide “Put the Phone Away or Pay” enforcement campaign from April 1 through April 30, 2026, in recognition of Distracted Driving Awareness Month. This initiative is aimed at reducing distracted driving and educating motorists about the serious—and often deadly—consequences of using a cellphone behind the wheel. Distracted driving remains a leading cause of motor vehicle crashes, contributing to nearly half of all crashes in New Jersey.
Throughout the month of April, law enforcement agencies across the state will conduct increased patrols and targeted enforcement to identify and stop drivers who are putting others at risk. During last year’s campaign, officers statewide issued nearly 7,000 citations for cellphone-related violations. In partnership with the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety, Secaucus officers will once again take part in this coordinated effort to prevent crashes and save lives.
New Jersey law prohibits all handheld cellphone use while driving, including texting, making calls, or scrolling. Violations carry fines and require a mandatory court appearance. Research shows that drivers using a cellphone are nearly four times more likely to be involved in a crash. The Secaucus Police Department remains committed to keeping our roadways safe. While enforcement is necessary, our goal is prevention.
Our focus is your safety—your focus should be on the road. Distracted driving has real and lasting consequences. We would rather issue a citation than respond to a preventable tragedy. No message, call, or notification is worth risking a life.
