Deputy Chief Martin Moreda is a Secaucus High School Graduate. He attended Rutgers University and majored in Chemistry and Criminal Justice. He is also a graduate of the West Point Command and Leadership Academy. He is a fully certified Accident Reconstructionst though Northwestern University and the University of North Florida and board certified through the Accreditation Commission for Accident Reconstructionists (ACTAR). He is Vice-President of the New Jersey Association of Accident Reconstructionists (NJAAR).
Deputy Chief Moreda was appointed to the Secaucus Police Department in January of 2002. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2013, Lieutenant in 2017. He served in the Patrol Division until 2015 which is when he formed the Department’s first Traffic Bureau. During his time there, he set the gold standard in Traffic Safety, utilizing the three E’s, Engineering, Education and Enforcement to reduce the severity of collisions and improve the overall efficiency within the Town of Secaucus. He co-founded the Hudson County Regional Collision Unit in 2017.
Deputy Chief Moreda was promoted to Captain in 2024 and named the Planning and Intelligence Section Commander. He was responsible for planning, organizing and implementing the Town-wide license plate reader system which has revolutionized the investigative process and resulted in an overall reduction in crime within the Town and increased the overall efficiency in criminal investigations. He has developed, installed and executed every single special event, to include the annual Memorial Day Parade, Holiday Tree Lighting and street fairs since 2015.
Deputy Chief Moreda is currently involved in the planning of the 2026 FIFA World Cup event at Metlife Stadium. He is also the Town’s liaison to Hudson County’s Vision Zero project and a member of the board of the Secaucus Youth Alliance. He is a recipient of three Excellent Police Service Awards, two Unit Citation Awards and a Mayoral Award from the City of Jersey City.
